My 2014 BMW 435i has started doing this thing where on the first start of the day, the engine idles really rough for maybe 30 seconds, almost like it’s going to stall, then it smooths out and runs perfectly the rest of the day. No check engine light yet but I can smell unburnt fuel from the exhaust during that rough period. I’ve already tried cleaning the MAF sensor and replacing the air filter but no change. I know these direct injection engines are known for carbon buildup on the intake valves, but a mechanic said it could also be dirty fuel injectors leaking slightly when the car sits overnight. I’ve been looking for a trusted injector service that can test each injector for leaks and clean them properly. Has anyone here had this exact symptom and fixed it with injector cleaning or carbon blasting? Trying to figure out which one to try first since both are expensive. Also worth noting I’m at 110k km and I don’t think either has ever been done.
