What’s up folks! I need some recommendations from the community. I recently took delivery of a 2023 Hummer EV, and this thing is absolutely massive and incredible. The technology, the off road capability, the sheer presence it has on the road… it’s unlike anything I’ve driven before.
Now here’s my situation. This vehicle is huge, and I mean really huge. It’s over 9,000 pounds, nearly 19 feet long, and packed with unique features like the removable roof panels, the Infinity Roof, CrabWalk mode components, and all sorts of technology. After a couple of months of ownership and actually using it (yes, I’ve taken it off road already), it needs a serious deep clean.
The problem is, most regular detailing places I’ve contacted seem intimidated by it. Some have told me straight up that they’re not equipped to handle vehicles this size. Others have quoted me prices but I can tell they don’t really understand what they’re dealing with. This isn’t just a big SUV – it’s an electric vehicle with specific cleaning requirements, tons of cameras and sensors that need careful attention, and unique materials throughout.
The exterior is covered in dust and dirt from off roading, there are mud splashes up the sides and in the wheel wells, and the Infinity Roof panels need cleaning both inside and out. The interior has sand and debris in places that are hard to reach, the seats need proper cleaning, and all the screens and technology surfaces need careful detailing.
I started searching specifically for Hummer heavy SUV detailing service providers who have experience with large, complex vehicles like this. I wanted someone who wouldn’t be overwhelmed by the size and would understand the EV specific considerations.
After quite a bit of research, I found a shop that specializes in oversized vehicles including lifted trucks, large SUVs, and even some commercial vehicles. They had experience with the new Hummer EVs, which gave me confidence they knew what they were getting into.
When I brought it in, they had a bay specifically designed for large vehicles with extended ceiling height and extra space. They immediately understood the unique aspects – they knew about the removable roof panels, the extensive camera system that needed careful cleaning, and the proper way to clean around the charging port.
The exterior detailing was comprehensive. They spent extra time on the wheel wells and undercarriage since the Hummer had been off road. They carefully cleaned all the cameras and sensors without using harsh chemicals that could damage the coatings. The Infinity Roof panels were removed, cleaned individually, and detailed on both sides before being reinstalled.
For the interior, they used products safe for all the electronic components and screens. They detailed the massive center screen, the driver display, and all the control surfaces. The seats got deep cleaned, and they even cleaned inside all the storage compartments and under the removable floor panels.
The whole process took significantly longer than a regular SUV would – about 10 hours total – but the results were worth it. The Hummer looks showroom fresh again, and everything is properly protected.
What really impressed me was their understanding that this vehicle will continue to be used hard. They applied durable protection rather than delicate coatings that would fail the first time I take it off road again.
Anyone else with a Hummer EV or other large/unique vehicles? Where do you get yours detailed, and what has your experience been? I’m also curious about maintenance routines between professional detailing sessions for vehicles this size.
